Aquaculture / Greenhouse Facility

A key business in the Community business model is a combination

aquaculture and greenhouse complex. The businesses of the Community

are all designed to be “eco-friendly” and to optimize use of sustainable and

renewable resources.

The water that comes from the aquaculture tanks is full of nutrients that

are ideal for growing vegetation.

This is a resource that can be utilized in our greenhouse to grow vegetables

and other plants. Some will be contributing to the food supply for the

residents of the Community, and others will be sold to earn income

to offset expenses..

The, fish and vegetables are grown for two main reasons:

1. Food for the Community residents

2. Product to be sold to generate income for the Community.

The primary products from the business include:

1. Tilapia fish

2. Vegetables/herbs

Additional products which are produced and can be marketed include:

1. Fish emulsion (liquid fertilizer)

2. Worms

Consistent with our environmental goals, the water flowing from the fish tanks is reused in several ways. It will  flow into the greenhouse for hydroponics, the garden for agriculture, the farm for dairy cows and hogs, irrigation for landscaping and also filtered to be recycled back into the fish tanks.

The fish of choice for the facility is Tilapia.

The fish will be sold live, frozen and as frozen filets. The frozen fish filets are to be distributes to upscale  international markets that buy “cause related” products.  Each package of frozen filets will include information about how the profits benefit the street orphans and clinic patients that are served by the Community.

The greenhouse produce will be sold to upscale markets and restaurants in our host country.
